This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 92/SC 1 "Fire initiations and growth" (Secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom), Working Group WG 15 "Joint WG between ISO/TC 92/SC 1 and ISO/TC 126 "Ignition propensity of cigarettes" in collaboration with CEN/TC 401 "Project Committee - Reduced Ignition Propensity Cigarettes" (Secretariat: DIN, Germany).

The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Lebensmittel und landwirischaftliche Produkte (Food and Agricultural Products Standards Committee), Working Committee NA 057-04-01 AA Tabak und Tabakerzeugnisse.

The DIN Standards corresponding to the International Standards referred to in this document are as follows: ISO 8243 is DIN ISO 8243 and ISO 13943 is DIN ISO 13943.
