This standard includes safety requirements within the meaning of the Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz (GPSG) (German Equipment and Consumer Goods Safety Law).
This standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 207 ‘Furniture’ (Secretariat: Italy), Working Group WG 4 ‘Outdoor furniture’ (Secretariat: France).
The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Holzwirtschaft und Möbel (Timber and Furniture Standards Committee), Technical Committee NA 042-05-04 AA Außenmöbel.
Outdoor furniture as specified in this standard falls within the scope of the Geräte- und Produktsicherheitsgesetz. Subject to compliance with the requirements specified in § 7 of the GPSG, the furniture may be marked with the symbol GS (= geprüfte Sicherheit, safety tested).
