This standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 136 'Sports, playground and other recreational equipment' (Secretariat: Germany)

The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Sport- und Freizeitgerät (Sports Equipment Standards Committee), Technical Committee Rollsportgeräte.

Roller skates as specified in this standard fall within the scope of the Gerätesicherheitsgesetz. Once compliance with the safety requirements specified therein has been verified by an accredited test house designated by the Bundesminister für Arbeit und Sozialordnung (German Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs), the roller skates may be marked with the symbol GS (= geprüfte Sicherheit, safety tested).

DIN ISO 2768-1 is the standard corresponding to European Standard EN 22768-1 referred to in clause 2 of the EN.
