This standard has been prepared by CEN/TC 136 'Sports, playground and other recreational equipment' (Secretariat: Germany).

The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuß Sport- und Freizeitgerät (Sports Equipment Standards Committee).

It should be noted that in Germany paragliding equipment is subject to the Luftverkehrsgesetz (German Civil Aviation Law) and the relevant regulations. Under this law, the paragliding equipment is subject to type approval involving testing in accordance with the Prüfordnung für Luftfahrtgerat (German Regulation on the testing and inspection of aircraft and aeronautical equipment).
